In this lecture, award-winning author and social justice scholar, Monique W. Morris, discusses her documentary, 鈥淧USHOUT: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.鈥 Based on two of her books鈥攐ne of the same name and 鈥淪ing a Rhythm, Dance a Blues: Education for the Liberation of Black and Brown Girls鈥濃攖he examines the educational, judicial and societal disparities facing Black girls.
With three decades of experience in education, civil rights and juvenile and social justice, Morris鈥 work has provided a road map for educators and policymakers to address the school-to-prison pipeline for Black girls. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A moderated by ARHU Dean Thornton Dill.
